Started as a military photographer for the USN in conflict zones and also worked on tourism images to send back home so my Mom and Dad could see what I was up to. Sharing with my family is what drove me to get better as a photographer so that every time they saw a picture I took it was fresh and new. What drove me to become a professional was an image I took in the Persian Gulf War and I still remember exactly where I stood and thought as I took it and then looked at the print. I came to NYC established but I wanted to have a piece of paper that said I formally studied photography. At this time I was hired before I even graduated by a black and white professional lab. It was my dream job as I could work on negatives and learn the science of photography better while still working with my clients - live bands and such - on my night time hours. I presently do freelance work and am very happy to have such a varied career. I still shoot for bands, actors, models - I also do medical photography at NYC hospital as a guest photographer and one of my favorite jobs is assisting Ali Smith on her shoots - I am her technical assistant and I have been working with her for some years now. I do not assist for anyone else :-) |
